Extract PDF text locally

This tool reads the text layer of your PDF with pdf.js and outputs clean plain text. It works on digital PDFs; scanned image-only PDFs need our OCR tool instead.

Does it work on scanned PDFs?
No — scans have no text layer. Use the Image to Text (OCR) tool for those.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything is processed locally in your browser, so your files never leave your device.
